Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has accused the Assam government of intimidation and violence ahead of the Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency by-election. Bhupesh Baghel alleged that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party is promoting fear and attacks during the election campaign. He made these statements during his visit to Assam while campaigning for the Congress party.
Bhupesh Baghel stated that opposition leaders face stone-pelting and attacks during their election visits. He also questioned the absence of BJP leaders at the first death anniversary programme of popular Assamese artist Zubeen Garg. The senior Congress leader criticized the ruling party for allegedly failing to deliver justice to the artist.
The Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election is scheduled to take place on October 6, with vote counting set for October 9. The parliamentary seat became vacant after the former MP moved to the Assam Assembly. Baghel visited important cultural sites in Guwahati before concluding his trip and meeting with local party leaders and workers.
