Assamese culture and heritage were celebrated at the Consulate General of India in Houston with the screening of the documentary titled Bhupenda Uncut. The documentary celebrates the life, legacy, and cultural influence of the legendary Assamese artist Dr Bhupen Hazarika.

Cultural Showcase And Key Speeches

The event featured traditional Assamese dance, soulful musical performances, and regional cuisine. Ambassador Lakshmi Murdeshwar Puri delivered a keynote address on Dr Hazarika and his contribution to Indian art, music, and culture. Consulate General DC Manjunath welcomed the gathering and acknowledged the contributions of the Assamese community in Houston. Bhupenda Uncut was directed by Bobbeeta Sharma and produced by Chinmoy Sharma. The event was curated with the support of the Assamese Cultural Society of Greater Houston. Dr Bhupen Hazarika remains one of Assam's most influential cultural figures and is popularly known as Sudhakantha and the Bard of the Brahmaputra.
