The Guwahati Tea Auction Centre has welcomed the new Assam tea policy that aims to help tea exports and local sales.
The Assam government notified the revised scheme on September 18 to support local tea producers.
The policy gives a Rs 3 per kg incentive for exported Single Origin Assam Quality CTC Tea. This money helps cover high transport and handling costs faced by tea gardens in the state.
CTC tea sold through the Guwahati Tea Auction Centre is now recognized for this export bonus.
This rule helps connect the official auction system directly with export benefits. The scheme also raises production support for Orthodox and Speciality Tea from Rs 10 to Rs 15 per kg. Matcha tea is now included in the policy, and working capital help is increased to Rs 20 lakh until March 31, 2031.
