Assam has arranged free medical treatment for 76 children suffering from Congenital Heart Disease at top hospitals across the country.
The National Health Mission Assam organized the initiative to mark the 76th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Dr Babul Bezbaruah, Principal and Chief Superintendent of Guwahati Medical College and Hospital, stated that the state government is sending these patients to medical institutions in Bengaluru, Mumbai, and other cities.
The medical program has been active since July 1, 2010, providing free treatment to thousands of children. Officials noted that more than 14,000 patients have received complete treatment and returned after recovery under this state-run scheme.
The Assam government covers all expenses including travel and food for each patient and one accompanying guardian during the treatment process.
