Assam Rifles detachments operating in the forested border tracts south of Champhai have intercepted a team of four suspected contraband couriers attempting to smuggle illicit cargo across unmonitored foot trails. Security forces recovered a discarded cache containing military-pattern communication equipment and synthetic contraband consignments after suspects fled across the border into Myanmar.
The squad encountered the suspects moving along a dry stream bed under the cover of darkness and issued a challenge to the group.
