Director General of Assam Rifles Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera performed the Ganpati Aarti at the Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati Mandal in Pune on Sunday. Speaking to reporters, Lt Gen Lakhera said visiting the abode of the Ganpati was an extraordinary event for anyone. He stated that he is an ordinary person and is truly overwhelmed by the opportunity, while praying for the country to progress, remain safe and strong, and for all citizens to enjoy prosperity.
History of the Mandal
Referring to the history of the mandal, Lt Gen Lakhera noted that the idol was created when India was under British rule. He emphasised that this specific Ganpati tradition is an inspiration for the nation, stating that nothing is greater than the nation and people should seek inspiration there whenever the country faces a crisis.
This visit takes place as celebrations for Ganeshotsav are ongoing throughout Maharashtra. The festival began on September 14 and is scheduled to conclude on September 25 with the immersion of the idol. Earlier during the celebrations, a 251-kg modak-shaped cake in Rasmalai flavour was offered to the Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati idol by WS Bakers.
