Assam and different parts of India paid homage to cultural icon and legendary musician Zubeen Garg on his first death anniversary. Fans, family, prominent political leaders, and Bollywood collaborators came together to honour his legacy.
Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal paid his tributes to the late artist at a ceremony in Guwahati. He remembered Garg and stated that people across the country and the world are uniting to pay tribute to Assam's beloved artist. The Assam unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party organised a blood donation camp in his honour.
The Assam Students Union also organised a tribute program in Guwahati. Chief Advisor of AASU Samujjal Bhattacharya stated that people gathered to pay their respects and demanded justice for the unexpected incident.
The Assam House in New Delhi paid heartfelt tributes to Zubeen Garg on his first death anniversary. Resident Commissioner Kavitha Padmanabhan along with officials and employees paid floral tributes at the portrait of the late singer.
Officials also planted Nahor saplings within the Assam House complex as a tribute to his love for nature. Actor Gayatri Mahanta joined the tribute and planted Nahor saplings. A cultural evening was organised by Yugasutra, SETU Charitable Trust, All Assamese Students' Association and Youth Association of Assam.
The Assam government organised a three-day programme through its Cultural Affairs Department to remember the singer. The programme began on September 17 and concluded on Saturday, September 19.
Zubeen Garg passed away in Singapore on September 19, 2025. He was known for his work as a singer, composer, musician, actor and filmmaker across several languages.
