Assam's Special Task Force (STF) and Kamrup Police seized a massive narcotics shipment worth an estimated ₹12.5 crore in Guwahati. The joint operation took place on August 1, 2026, near Amingaon, resulting in the arrest of three men from Manipur.
The police intercepted a Tata Nexon with registration number AS 11 AA 6800. During the operation,
three individuals originating from Manipur were arrested. The suspects have been identified as 24-year-old Kh Tabish, 41-year-old Thekcham Avinash Singh, and 38-year-old Nongmaithem Biswajit.
Officials recovered
approximately 50,000 Yaba tablets weighing about 5 kg and five packets of high-grade heroin weighing around 67.5 grams. The drugs were hidden inside specially built compartments within the vehicle. While the international black market value is estimated at ₹12.5 crore, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has valued the contraband at approximately ₹7.5 crore.
Police stated that the shipment was
being transported from Kakching in Manipur towards a lower Assam district. The interception happened after officers received precise intelligence inputs. Law enforcement is now investigating the source of the consignment and working to identify other people involved in the trafficking network.
