Assam Police have arrested 18 Bangladeshi nationals in different operations across Guwahati for entering the country without valid documents.

Railway Station Operation

Five Bangladeshi nationals were caught by the Border Branch of Panbazar Police Station during routine checks at the Guwahati Railway Station inside a train coach. Police stated that three Aadhaar cards were found with them, and one card was genuine. Officials revealed that they entered India illegally through the Meghalaya border to travel to Mumbai for work.

Hotel Raids and Arrests

Police found that the group stayed at a local hotel in Tokobari. A case was registered against the hotel staff, and four people including the hotel owner were arrested for helping the foreign nationals. In another raid at a separate hotel, police apprehended 13 more Bangladeshi nationals who had arrived from Delhi after living in Srinagar for many years. Legal action is being initiated for their expulsion from India under the Immigrants Expulsion from Assam Act 1950.
