Assam Police have arrested 13 people in connection with an attack on a Bihu cultural troupe in the Sribhumi district. The police action comes after strict instructions from state authorities following an incident during a Durga Puja event where miscreants objected to the performance of Assamese songs.
A case has been registered at the Sribhumi Police Station. During the investigation, the 13 suspects were arrested and sent to the court. The police stated that further investigation is underway and efforts are ongoing to find and arrest other people involved in the attack.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma condemned the incident, calling it deeply disturbing and unfortunate.
