Assam Launches New State Cooling Action Plan
Assam has launched the new Assam Cooling Action Plan to manage rising temperatures and energy needs. The state is now one of the first in India to create an integrated plan for sustainable cooling across multiple sectors.
Key Sectors Covered In The Plan
The new plan focuses on four main areas which are buildings, cold chain, industry, and transport. Officials stated that cooling electricity demand in the state is expected to double by the year 2040.
Focus On Green Cover And Public Participation
State officials also stressed the importance of increasing green cover through ongoing plantation programs. The government urged citizens and students to adopt energy-efficient practices in their daily lives.
