Assam Governor Ends Drug Free Campaign In Guwahati

Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya concluded the Nasha Mukt Bharat Sankalp Padayatra fortnight in Guwahati with hundreds of students, youth, officials, and citizens joining the campaign against drug abuse.

The anti-drug march started on September 17 at Cachar and covered ten districts including Cachar, Sribhumi, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Dhubri, Barpeta, Diphu, Hojai, Kamrup, and Kamrup (M). The walk aimed to spread the message about the bad effects of substance abuse and build collective responsibility.

Governor Address At District Library

Addressing a gathering at the District Library in Guwahati, Governor Acharya stated that the march was a collective resolve of Assam to build a healthy and empowered society. He recalled the life and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi and paid tribute to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversaries, emphasizing truth, discipline, and national service.

Call To Protect The Youth

The Governor highlighted that healthy and value-based youth form the foundation of a developed society. He urged parents, teachers, police, media, and religious institutions to work together to stop drug abuse and protect the younger generation from the menace of drugs.

Pledge And Floral Tributes

District Commissioner Swapnil Paul administered the Nasha Mukt Bharat Sankalp pledge to all participants at the event. Earlier in the day, the Governor visited Gandhi Mandap to pay floral tributes at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and planted a sapling to symbolize a healthier future.
