Assam Forces Seize Drugs Worth 28 Crore in Cachar Operation

A joint team of Cachar Police and the 38 Assam Rifles conducted a successful anti-narcotics operation in Assam, resulting in the seizure of a large drug consignment. The security forces intercepted the illegal shipment and arrested three individuals suspected of drug trafficking. The total value of the seized drugs is estimated to be ₹28 crore in the black market.

Details of the Narcotics Seizure

During the intelligence-led raid, authorities recovered a significant amount of contraband from the suspects. The recovery included 110,000 Yaba tablets, which weighed approximately 14 kilograms, and 10 soap cases containing 223 grams of high-grade heroin. Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma acknowledged the joint effort, stating that the state maintains a zero-tolerance policy against drug cartels.

Legal Action and Ongoing Investigation

Following the arrests, law enforcement officials have registered a formal case against the three detainees under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The suspects are currently being interrogated by investigators. The police are working to identify the origin of the drugs and map out the supply routes used by the smugglers to transport these substances across the region. Authorities continue to investigate potential interstate smuggling links connected to this case.
