Heavy rainfall and flash floods in Assam caused major damage to a railway bridge over the Simen River in the Dhemaji district. Northeast Frontier Railway officials reported that heavy monsoon runoff and riverbank erosion destabilized a pier of the bridge, which led to the suspension of train services between Archipathar and Simen Chapari stations.
No injuries were reported and no trains were damaged during the incident. However, rail operations on the Murkongselek–Silapathar route were halted with services short-terminated at Silapathar, while bus arrangements were made for stranded passengers as detailed by

Following the bridge damage, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma directed state ministers to oversee the situation while local representatives monitored recovery efforts.
The state government disbursed Rs 25.12 crore in interim relief to thousands of families across the state as part of ongoing flood assistance programs.
