Assam CM Thanks Public for Flood Relief Fund Contributions

Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has thanked citizens and business owners for their financial donations to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to help families affected by recent floods.

Details of Recent Donations

The state government received several notable contributions from individuals and organizations to assist with relief operations. Key donations include ₹15,11,111 from Ranjan Dutta, ₹5,00,000 from Apex Hospital, ₹5,00,000 from Rajen Lohia, and ₹50,000 from Ishwar Prasanna Bordoloi. The wife of Moran MLA Chakradhar Gogoi also provided a contribution on his behalf. These funds are intended to support the government in rebuilding homes and assisting communities. Previously, the Vedanta Group contributed ₹7 crore to the relief fund on August 6, 2026.

Official Warning Against Forced Collections

Chief Minister Sarma issued a warning regarding the collection of flood relief money. He directed the police to monitor activities to prevent the forced collection of donations from the public. The Chief Minister stated that all contributions should be made voluntarily and channeled directly to the government through the official relief fund. He confirmed that the state has received ₹1,300 crore in central funds and has enough resources to manage the situation without foreign aid.

Next Steps for Flood Recovery

The state government is moving forward with the recovery process following the recent disaster. The official assessment of flood-related damages and the compensation process for affected families are scheduled to begin on August 7, 2026. These steps are part of the ongoing rehabilitation efforts managed by the state administration to provide relief to those impacted by the floods across Assam.
