Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma officially opened the new Assam Bhawan complex in Bengaluru on Friday, October 16, 2026. The new building serves as a helpful place for people from Assam visiting South India. Details are available on the Assam Government General Administration Department portal.
The four-storey building was built at a cost of ₹71.24 crore on a large plot of land. It includes different types of rooms like suites, double rooms, and a dormitory. It also has official flats, conference rooms, a dining hall, a library, and a gym.
Project History
The land for the project was bought in the year 2008, but work was stopped in 2016 due to land rules. After talks with the Karnataka government, the issues were solved in 2018 and building work started again in May 2022.
Chief Minister Sarma shared that more Assam Bhawans will open in Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata soon. Other cities are also being checked for new facilities to help people from Assam.
