Assam CM Confirms Real Highway Progress Amid AI Rumors

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has officially addressed social media claims suggesting that recent aerial footage of the state's expanding road network was created using artificial intelligence. The Chief Minister confirmed that the visible transformation in regional connectivity is the direct result of active government infrastructure projects currently underway in the state.
Details of the Guwahati–Tezpur Highway Project
The government has sanctioned a new 135.87-kilometer, 4-lane access-controlled highway corridor connecting Guwahati and Tezpur. This project was approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs with a total budget of ₹8,970.20 crore. The highway will run from Baihata Chariali to Tezpur along NH-15 and is expected to reduce travel time by half while helping to lower traffic congestion on NH-27.
Strategic and Environmental Infrastructure Features
The construction plan includes several specialized features, such as a 4.9-kilometer Emergency Landing Facility built for the Indian Air Force on the Tezpur Bypass. Furthermore, the infrastructure design prioritizes environmental safety by incorporating dedicated elephant underpasses and elevated wildlife corridors. These features are intended to minimize ecological disruption across the 58.7 kilometers of major bypasses being constructed along the route.
