The Assam government announced several new decisions including financial payouts and project approvals during a recent state cabinet meeting. Orunodoi beneficiaries will receive Rs 1,500 each for October as a Durga Puja gift instead of the regular Rs 1,250 grant. Eligible workers and employees of the tea gardens of Assam Tea Corporation Limited will get a 20 per cent Durga Puja bonus along with an extra holiday on October 17, 2026.
The state cabinet approved the Assam Sustainable Wetland and Integrated Fisheries Transformation Project at a total cost of Rs 796.88 crore. Out of this amount, the Asian Development Bank loan will cover Rs 637.504 crore while the state government will bear Rs 159.376 crore for restoring 102 derelict community beels. The cabinet also approved a rent-based model to construct a laboratory for the Spices Board of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The state government will bear the mandatory promoter contribution for collective entities under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund scheme. JK Lakshmi Cement Limited received approval for a proposed investment of Rs 11,000 crore to establish manufacturing units in the state, generating direct employment for around 2,000 people. Additionally, land was allotted for setting up a new College of Agriculture at Patharkandi in Sribhumi district.
