Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has laid the foundation stone for a 3,200 MW thermal power project in Dhubri district. The project aims to boost the state power infrastructure and energy security with a major investment.
The new ultra-supercritical thermal power project is set up at Chapar in Dhubri district. The project entails an investment of approximately ₹48,000 crore and is undertaken through an initiative of the Assam Government with investment from Adani Power.
The project comprises four units of 800 MW each. The first units are targeted to be commissioned in phases from December 2030, and the entire project is expected to be completed by December 2032 to meet the growing power demand.
