Assam Arunachal Border Clashes Cause Injuries and Blockade

Twelve people were injured in an armed clash and stone-pelting incident near Mingmang Basti on the Assam and Arunachal Pradesh border. Tensions escalated due to a dispute over agricultural land and perimeter rights. Assam Police had to fire blank warning rounds to separate the fighting crowds. Economic Blockade by Mising Groups

Following the violence, local organizations like the Takam Mising Porin Kebang launched an indefinite economic blockade at transit points such as Silapathar, Banderdewa, and Jonai. Protesters demanded the arrest of four people named in a police complaint within 48 hours. The blockade was later suspended after intervention by state leaders. Assam ministers visited Dhemaji to hold emergency meetings with community elders and restore calm. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma called the event a localized conflict and is working with Arunachal Pradesh authorities. Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu also appealed for peace and promised an impartial inquiry while police maintain security in the foothill areas.
