Asansol Police Arrest Three For Buying Baby For One Lakh

Asansol police have arrested three people for allegedly buying a two-month-old infant for one lakh rupees. The police acted after receiving a complaint via email and rescued the baby from the North Dhadka area.

Details of the Arrest

The arrested couple has been identified as Vinod Kumar Gupta, who is a state government ration dealer, and his wife Babita Gupta. Police also arrested a middleman named Ashok Bhawalka from Dhadka Road in connection with the case.

Initial investigations revealed that the baby was allegedly purchased from a private nursing home in Suri, Birbhum. The police have registered an FIR under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015. The recovered infant has been handed over to the Child Welfare Committee for proper care and protection. Authorities are now investigating the role of the nursing home and other potential middlemen involved in the transaction.
