Arunachal Chief Minister Invites Youth Groups For Siang Talks

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has invited the youth wing of the Adi Bane Kebang and the Youth Association for talks about the proposed Siang Upper Multipurpose Project. The Chief Minister said any decision to proceed with the project will be taken only after the pre-feasibility report findings are ready.

Focus On Pre-Feasibility Report

Chief Minister Pema Khandu stated that authorities are not discussing dam construction at this current stage. He noted that the focus remains entirely on the pre-feasibility report process. Khandu added that public consultation is legally required under established provisions before any dam can be built.

Reaching Out To Local Residents

Khandu mentioned that local residents in the Siang region have received misinformation regarding the project. He announced plans to dedicate an entire month to visiting the area frequently and engaging with various associations to provide clarity. Meanwhile, the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee opposed the project and urged a temporary stop to the field surveys.
