Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed deep concern over incidents of vandalism, looting, and damage to property in Pasighat. These incidents occurred following a 12-hour bandh called on October 23 by organizations opposing the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project in Siang, Upper Siang, and East Siang districts.
Affected properties included a local police station, the Adi Baane Kebang complex, and the NHPC office. The residences of local MLA Oni Panyang, senior MLA Ninong Ering, and state BJP president Kaling Moyong were also vandalized, with reports of looting and theft continuing into the early hours of October 24.
Chief Minister Khandu reiterated that the State government remains open to discussions with all organizations and stakeholders regarding the project. He invited representatives to participate in meetings and round-table discussions to address concerns, clarify doubts, and resolve differences through dialogue rather than actions affecting public safety.
