Arunachal CM Pema Khandu Clarifies Upper Siang Project Status

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu stated that the government will only complete the preliminary feasibility report for the Siang Upper Multi-Purpose Project before taking any further decisions. The preliminary feasibility report is expected to take three months to finish.

Focus on Technical Feasibility

Chief Minister Pema Khandu said that if experts decide the project cannot be built, there will be no further process. The study will check if the structure is safe in Seismic Zone V and how it protects against upstream water release.

National Security and Consultations

Khandu emphasized that the project is important for India national security and defence preparedness. He assured that the government will hold extensive consultations with affected communities if the project moves beyond the feasibility stage.
