Arunachal Bans Bikes After Tiger Sighting on Highway

Forest officials in Arunachal Pradesh have banned two-wheeler movement along a four-kilometer stretch of the Roing–Anini highway after a Royal Bengal tiger was spotted there. The big cat was seen near Tiwari Gaon on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, and video footage of the animal circulated widely on social media.

Travel Restrictions and Safety Rules

The ban applies during early morning, evening, and night hours to prevent human-wildlife conflict. Mito Rumi, the Divisional Forest Officer of the Mehao Wildlife Sanctuary Division, issued this formal advisory. Commuters are told to keep vehicle windows closed and avoid stopping or taking photos. This rule follows a February 2026 incident where a police officer was killed by a tiger while riding a motorcycle on the same highway.

Emergency Contact Numbers

Forest teams are deployed in the area to monitor safety and ensure people follow the rules. Roing MLA Mutchu Mithi confirmed the tiger presence and asked residents to stay alert. People can report further sightings to Range Forest Officer Magone Linggi at 7085459372 or 9436221862.
