Army and forest teams rescue baby elephant in Siliguri

An elephant calf was safely rescued after falling into a septic tank inside an army camp near Siliguri. The incident took place on Sunday early morning at the 16 FAD area in Bengdubi, Bagdogra.

Joint Rescue Operation Saves Calf

Army soldiers, fire department personnel, and forest department workers rushed to the spot after getting the information. Pulling the young elephant out of the deep tank was a difficult task. After two hours of hard work, the rescue teams broke a part of the tank structure and successfully pulled the baby elephant out safely.

Return to Wild Herd

The forest department started the process of reuniting the rescued calf with its wild elephant herd. Earlier before the Puja festival, similar rescue operations had taken place in the Bagdogra and Bengdubi areas.
