West Bengal Labour and Transport Minister Arjun Singh has issued a strict directive regarding growing complaints of extortion within the Bharatiya Janata Party. The minister stated that issuing warnings to party members is not enough and that those found guilty must face immediate expulsion from the party to maintain discipline.

During his visit to North Bengal, Minister Arjun Singh visited several tea gardens and the Labour Office in Darjeeling. He clearly stated that those involved in extortion cases are damaging the reputation of the party. He emphasized that instead of just expressing anger or issuing warnings, the party leadership must take strong disciplinary action by removing such individuals from the organization entirely. This stance follows similar concerns raised by other senior party leaders, including state president Samik Bhattacharya, Dilip Ghosh, and Agnimitra Paul.

In the footage, a person claiming to be a party worker was seen stopping sand-laden trucks and demanding money from the drivers. The video was reportedly recorded by a truck driver.
