Raijor Dal MLA Akhil Gogoi has stated that his indefinite Satyagraha will continue until flood victims receive proper money. He is demanding Rs 10 lakh for each family affected by floods and devastation in Assam.
Protests are taking place across Assam demanding genuine compensation for those affected by the floods.
Seven protests have already taken place in Guwahati, and three more are scheduled. Gogoi has been sitting on a dharna within the Assam Assembly campus for seven days.
Neither the Chief Minister nor the Chief Secretary has come to meet him or accept the memorandum.
Akhil Gogoi condemned the police for subjecting protesters to severe harassment.
Several leaders and members of the Raijor Dal were detained by police during a demonstration in Guwahati.
He demanded an immediate end to this practice and called for the provision of Rs 10 lakh as compensation to each affected family.
